Publications Manager/Editor
The Kansas Legislative Research Department (KLRD) provides nonpartisan, objective research and fiscal analysis for the Kansas Legislature. The Director of Legislative Research is appointed by the Legislative Coordinating Council, a representative body for the members of the Kansas Legislature. All positions within KLRD are unclassified.
KLRD has an opening for a Publications Manager/Editor who has lead responsibility for Department publications.
Candidates must be able to communicate effectively, work cooperatively, and provide constructive feedback to others. This position requires a successful candidate to proof Department documents and revise content for clarity. Candidates must be proficient in publication basics and publication coordination. Previous work with electronic publishing preferred.
In addition, the candidate should be proficient with software including Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe InDesign, and possess the ability to quickly learn new software. This position requires a Bachelor's degree, preferably in communications, journalism, or English; a minimum of four years of experience in writing, publishing, and editing may be substituted for education requirement. Entry level annual salary is $46,000, although negotiable depending on experience. Deadline for applications is July 6, 2020.
